Absolutely fantastic experience with Dublin Floors and Doors! They installed hardwood floors in our living room, and the result is stunning. The staff was helpful in choosing the right wood for our home’s aesthetic, and the installers were fast and meticulous. It’s clear they take great pride in their work. I will definitely be hiring them again for future flooring projects.

Bartly did a great job installing a new wooden floor in our Dublin apartment. He was quick and tidy with great attention to detail. He left the place clean and tidy after he had finished his work. Bartly provided a supply and fit service in relation to the work and was great value, I would recommend him higly to anyone considering getting wooden floors laid in their home or apartment.

    Things to Do.

    1. Measure your room

Follow our simple instructions below on how to measure your room.

    2. Choose you wood

We deal with all the major suppliers.

    Step-by-Step Guide:

    1. Measure the Length and Width
Measure the length and width of the room in meters (or feet).
Measure at the longest points (including any nooks or irregular shapes).
    Example: Length = 5.2m and Width = 4.6m

    2. Calculate the Area
Multiply the length × width to get the area.
    Example: 5.2m × 4.6m = 23.92 m²

    3. Add Waste Allowance (10%)
Laminate flooring requires a waste allowance for cutting and mistakes—typically 10%.
    Example: 23.92 m² × 1.10 = 26.31 m²

So, you’ll need to order approximately 26.5 m² of laminate flooring.

If the Room Isn’t a Perfect Rectangle:

Break it into smaller rectangles or squares and measure each section:
    Calculate each section’s area.
Add all areas together or subtract in the case of a fireplace.
Then add 10% for waste as above.

    Final Tip:
Most laminate flooring is sold by the box, and the box usually tells you how many square meters or feet it covers. The average pack has 2 sqm of flooring so devide your total room area by 2 and round up your figure to find out how many boxes you will roughly need.
